Here's the deal:

If 'nothing to live for' correlates with "nothing to lose," then you don't have either. Wife, job you actually like, video games, church. Those are things to live for. Also, if you gained all (or most) of what you have from being almost indecently honest, then how in the world can you expect to hold on to it all through un-honesty? That doesn't make sense, perhaps?

I resonate with the fear thing, and the feeling thing. You just had the guts to write it out. I can relate, or at least try to empathize, except that I don't have a wife. But man to man, I feel ya as much as I can. Feel everything, and feel deeply. Who knows, maybe someone where you are is going through something similar.

I don't think you such, nor does your writing. I am glad you decided to write again after a while. What does suck is that you feel you can't have been honest, and weren't allowed to feel. So here goes: by the power invested in me...FEEL!!! EXPRESS YOURSELF!!! There; now you have permission. You're pretty cool beans, just saying. Open up the case of the feelings, and tape it open forever.

Tell me a bad joke sometime.Puttyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16020784226040407208noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11203828.post-87918235806713547062013-08-21T13:24:29.223-04:002013-08-21T13:24:29.223-04:00I'm really excited for when you write your mem...I'm really excited for when you write your memoir.Maya Marie Richard Blinke McElfish IXnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11203828.post-1179206507892562832012-12-06T13:51:07.520-05:002012-12-06T13:51:07.520-05:00I don't think I've read that exact one. But Matt and I ...Yes, I'm quite late with this. But Matt and I have just begun to act on this difference, despite talking about it for months. And worse, it first happened in the church of his father and step-mother, which led to a not-as-healthy-as-I-would-have-liked debate that evening. That being said, we're exploring the realm outside of Salvationism where we are likely to be attending a church that regularly practices communion. This, then, puts the awkwardness on me as a Salvationist and as a woman who is choosing to opt into a Biblical relationship of "husband, head of household." Will there come a day where I need to take it as a support to my husband (should we get married), who plans to be in a leadership role in a church? Do I want to spend the rest of my life explaining that I don't take communion because of the way I grew up, which I'm not always sure I want to be a part of anymore? Lots of interesting personal explorations here, I'm finding.

-EmilyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11203828.post-39000438429446878572012-02-23T22:18:58.228-05:002012-02-23T22:18:58.228-05:00I suppose it was the way we were raised, having th...I suppose it was the way we were raised, having this callous.
In youth group a few days ago, they were asking if anyone had any prayer requests, and I said I'd like them to pray for Grandma. The person who was going to pray asked, "So what was wrong with your Grandma again?" It didn't seem the slightest bit rude to me, but the other people there seemed very offended by it and said jokingly that next week we should have a lesson in being more considerate about others feelings, and about being more, I don't remember the exact word, subtle? I thought it rather strange, since he meant no harm and did no harm, and he was asking an honest and simple question.
Well, anyway, I guess that was just a long way of saying I get what you're saying. People seem afraid to talk about death, they are uncomfortable with the subject of death, and they seem much more sensitive to it then we are. They don't even like the word "dead", when it comes right down to it...Elizabeth Clarkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16638912350183133344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11203828.post-49887719386382560202011-07-30T12:47:13.785-04:002011-07-30T12:47:13.785-04:00TLDR.

Health care bloggers all wrestle with this, but it's critical. Some have lost their jobs over it. Patients obviously have to be anonymous, but your co-workers might also be miffed if you write about them. Your employer most likely has a blogging policy for its employees; if not, might want to Google for a typical one or a discussion thereof. In general, you should not use the real names of your co-workers in your blog. (Not sure if you did this or not, just wanted to give you the heads up that this could become an issue.)
:-) --PaulineAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11203828.post-55136808984873948842011-05-16T10:06:08.367-04:002011-05-16T10:06:08.367-04:00"When I was a child, I talked like a child, I..."When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. If you just follow what I taught you with consistency, (as much as college allows) then in a month or two, you'll start noticing a SERIOUS improvement. Just don't give up, and don't be lazy. Don't keep acting like a little girl who plays with Barbie dolls. Run until you collapse and lift weights until you can't even pick up a newspaper.
